Is the REVCORD System "made in the USA" ?What is included with the REVCORD Voice Logging System?
If the connection is to an analog or digital system the REVCORD package includes a dedicated PC with a highly specialized capture card and the REVCORD software as shown in the Commercial Demo. The system (model CYA/CM or MCS/CM) connects to your telephone system with an amphenol cable which is supplied as part of the package. The System includes a mouse and keyboard. If you need speakers or monitors your dealer can include these in their installed price. The System includes a One Year Limited Warranty and your dealer will probably recommend the addition of an extended maintenance agreement.
If you have a VoIP phone system the REVCORD Voice Logging System is primarily a software package which can be loaded on your server or on a dedicated PC configured by REVCORD. The VoIP System will be priced on the basis of subscription including maintenance or on the basis of a permanent license with an accompanying maintenance agreement.
What are the legal implications of voice logging?
Call recording is legal in the United States and Canada however you must follow the procedures required by Federal and State/Provincial Governments. For information concerning State law in the USA we recommend you view our section entitled "Call Recording & The Law". In all but twelve States the law requires only "one party" to the telephone discussion be aware the call is being recorded. In those twelve States requiring "two parties" or "all parties" be aware the call is being recorded, different types of notifications are used including the requirement for "beep tones" in some States. REVCORD offers and inexpensive "beep tone" generator though our dealers. For information concerning Provincial law in Canada we recommend you do an Internet search related to your particular situation.
How long can I save or archive recordings?
We "factory pre-set" the REVCORD System to archive for 365 days and then to maintain a 365 day history using first-in and first-out deletion. If you wish to archive for shorter or longer periods of time your dealer can make the adjustment - however if you wish to archive beyond 365 days we strongly suggest the utilization of REVCORD's backup capabilities.
What are the REVCORD backup options?
The REVCORD System can be set to automatically backup to a USB hard drive or to Network Attached Storage (NAS). Some backup devices work better than others and we recommend you ask you dealer and coordinate your backup plans with their assistance.
What are the advantages of a "web-based" voice logging system?
With no requirement for client software REVCORD does no have add-on charges for "seat licenses" which can significantly increase the cost of a voice logging system. You can assign unlimited access to the system, with the only limitation being a total of ten(10) simultaneous connections to system at any given time. Without the requirement for client software, installation can be faster and less expensive. Finally if you have the REVCORD System on an external IP address you can assign access capabilities from anywhere in the World. If you do put the REVCORD System on an external IP be sure to remember this is a computer and anti-virus protection is a must.
Can I monitor telephone calls in progress?
Yes. This is an assignable right and it is used primarily to evaluate employee's communications skills and job performance.
What happens in case of a power failure?
As with any computer, we strongly recommend you always connect with a UPS in case of power failures or surges. If for some reason the REVCORD System would lose power it will simply reboot when power is restored and resume normal operation, and your information should not be lost.
Does the REVCORD System have remote notification in case of a problem?
We offer Remote Monitoring Software which can be loaded on a selected client. This software can notify assigned individuals by e-mail in case of a system problem. With our Model MCS/CM utilizing dual hard drives and Raid 1 (mirroring) the Raid card will also send notification in case of the failure of one hard drive even though the remaining hard drive will maintain the system.
What is REVCORD's Typical Public Safety Installation?
Although we have larger installations, our typical Public Safety installation is between 16 and 120 channels. Perhaps the smallest Public Safety installation is a fire station with one fire truck and one full-time fireman – and among our larger installations are 64 and 80 channel systems with County Sheriff's and Metropolitan Police departments. Although not directly related to Public Safety we're rather proud of the two 64 channel systems recording all communications between Delta pilots and their operations in Atlanta.
What about REVCORD and Campus Security?
We seem to have particular appeal to this market and they recognize REVCORD as being the best voice logging value on the market today. Since we market through dealers, we don't always know where systems are being installed but, we are aware of over ten units installed in Campus Security Departments including "big name" colleges and universities.
Can you combine Analog, Digital and/or VoIP in the same system?
We can combine Analog capture cards, and Digital capture cards, and VOIP in the same system. We see this requirement when Public Safety clients want to record analog radio channels but they also need to capture calls coming though their digital PBX system or VOIP system.
What are the archiving capabilities with the 320 gigabyte hard drive?
As a "rule of thumb" the REVCORD voice logging and call recording system archives a little over 300 hours per gigabyte of hard drive space. With a 320 gigabyte hard drive the potential is for approximately 100,000 channel hours of storage. We preset the system to record for 365 days and once 365 days have been recorded the system maintains 365 days by deleting and adding communications on a "first in first out" basis. Your dealer can change the setting up to 999 days, however the 100,000 hours will be the limiting factor. We recommend some type of backup for long-term storage and not stretching the internal hard drive capabilities for this purpose.
Can you explain REVCORD's DVD-RAM Backup?
REVCORD's Public Safety configuration features a DVD-RAM drive and we "dump" to the drive approximately every hour. If you fail to change the disk the system will simply "dump" and catch up when a new disk is inserted. The System will alert when the disk is full. The system can also be configured to send an e-mail for remote alert. We supply a five pack of Panasonic DVD-RAM disks with the System and we strongly recommend these particular Panasonic disks as the most compatible with the Panasonic Drive. Using approximately 300 hours per gigabyte for estimated storage - and with 4.7 gigabytes on these disks - you can anticipate around 1,400 hours per disk.
Can we backup to a USB hard drive or Network Attached Storage (NAS)?
The System can also be configured to backup to a USB hard drive or a NAS if you would prefer. We have seen a growing number Public Safety installations going in this direction and if you are considering USB hard drive backup we'd suggest you discuss this with your dealer since some of these systems are more compatible than others. We see increasing usage of NAS where the REVCORD System is located in one location and the backup is remotely located.
Can you explain Raid 1 included with your Model MCS/PS?
The model MCS/PS is intended for "mission critical" operations. In addition to the hot swappable power supplies we use two hot swappable 320 gigabytes hard drives and Raid 1 ("mirroring). Each hard drive contains the same data and information and if one drive fails the other allows the System to continue operating. This is similar to the two tires on the axles of an 18 wheel truck. If one tire goes flat the other allows the truck to continue to run until the flat can be fixed or replaced – and the intention of Raid 1 is to allow you to keep going until the failed hard drive can be addressed. The Raid system will also provide local and remote alerts should a hard drive failure occur.
Is it correct there is no added cost for ANI/ALI search capabilities?
Correct – we do not charge for this capability. We do not have seat license or other user fees. We do not charge for our amphenol cables. In simple terms REVCORD does not "nickel and dime" you. Our intention is to provide an advance voice logger and to be the best voice logging value on the market today. We currently integrate with Plant, Positron, and Ztron. Contact us for other implications.
